Sammy's Friends

Deep in the forest, a tinysquirrel named Sammy was playing with his friends. Suddenly, the sky opened up and dark clouds filled the sky with big, grey drops of water. Sammy’s friend, Tommy, said “Oh no! We must find a place to hide!” “Don’t worry,” answered an old owl who was sitting on a nearby tree branch.

He said, “I have some thick and tough leaves that will keep us dry. Would you like one?” Sammy nodded excitedly. The owl gave him a few leaves from the tree and Sammy thanked him.

Then he ran off to look for something else to hide in. Tommy watched as Sammy had found a perfect spot, surrounded by logs in the forest. As Sammy dug under them, he noticed something shiny. He reached inside and pulled out a small, clear stone. “What can I do with this?” he asked. Sammy looked at his new find.

It was a long string that had been around the bottom. He couldn’t wait to show it off to his friends!
